Mornington Peninsula, Victoria

Grown exclusively on our Portsea vineyard, with vines planted in the year 2000. An interesting 1.4 acre vineyard, originally a limestone quarry in the 1800’s. With North and South facing aspects, it is planted equally to chardonnay clones 76, P58 and i10. The 2022 Portsea Block Chardonnay was aged in a combination of oak sizes, but mainly in old French puncheons. It has 20% new oak and 33% malolactic fermentation.

To the eye, the wine has a lovely green tinge. The nose is pretty, with classic Mornington stone fruit characters and rich dusty oak. The palate is mouth filling and rich, with oyster shell, nectarine and flinty characters, combined with long, refreshing acidity and a pleasant phenolic grip. It will cellar for a minimum of 10 years.
