Heathcote, Victoria

We are having a lot of fun making and learning about Grenache (warm climate Pinot!). The rocky and steep Col Mountain vineyard in central Heathcote is a fabulous site for thisimpressive variety. The wine is made like the Pinot Noir, with similar ripeness levels. It has a little more colour and weight most years but remains fresh and medium bodied. The 2023 has a seductive array of aromas, across pomegranate, rhubarb and raspberry. It is alsoquite perfumed. The palate is smooth and energetic with medium weight presence. It has alovely balance with pippy tannins driving the length in a relatively tight and flowing way. This is the fourth vintage of Grenache we have made and the wines have the hallmark lick of chalky tannin. Delicious.
