2022 Gentle Folk Village Pinot Noir

2022 Gentle Folk Village Pinot Noir

Gentle Folk

Adelaide Hills, South Australia

This is a fun one. It has a big, juicy aroma and loads of flavour, classic red cherry, raspberries, and complex earthy undertones. It's got a rich, full mouthfeel— yet not too heavy or light on the palate.

"A blend of all our estate vineyards plus the Wilsmore vineyard in Piccadilly, the 2022 release is more structured and brooding than previous vintages owing to the late and cool harvest. Do not get us wrong, its still Adelaide Hills and is all about drinkability and the dance of the tannin across your pallet...perfect for pairing with nearly anything on the lunch and dinner table."

It's a blend of grapes from Monomeith (10%), Little Creek (30%), Piccadilly (30%), Scary Gully (30%) vineyards that are 22-35 years old with clones MV6, D5V12, Pommard, 114, 115, 777 and Martini. They're grown at 520-620 meters above sea level in the east-west direction (Monomeith), south and north directions (Little Creek), south direction (Piccadilly), plus southeast and southwest directions (Scary Gully). The soils are light loamy clay over sandstone with extensive schist and quartz rubble.

Mostly 20% whole cluster open-top fermentation for three weeks; some shorter macerated 100% whole bunch ferment barrels were also used. Eight months in French oak barriques and puncheons; 10% new barrels. - Winery note
