2021 Mike Press Shiraz
Mike Press
Adelaide Hills, South Australia
A wine that is at odds with its generous alcohol. It's medium- to full-bodied with a freshness contributed by its relatively open weave. The bouquet, too, is part of that freshness. Above all else, it is the variety speaking loud and clear in a vintage to be remembered for years to come. Drink by 2041. 94 points, James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion
Musky vanillin oak sits marginally separate to warm, sweet, cherry-plum fruit flavour, but there’s yet good shape and decent volume to this wine; give it another 12 months in bottle and it will integrate and drink a treat. Add toast and clove flavours to the aforementioned characters and you get the picture. This is a good release, frisky with acidity but well-flavoured and indeed textured. Drink 2023 - 2029. 91 Points, Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
